Addison & Natalie
These two girls are soooo much fun…!! I love getting to spend time with them, and they constantly surprise me with how smart and funny they are. We literally laugh, all the time…
Just love them!!!
Changes
In life, there is one thing you can always, always count on… change.
So, there are some big changes coming… Changes for me, and changes for Kristen Olson Photography. Will share more soon!
Hawaii – Just a Few (For Now)
Last month I was blessed to get to spend 10 days in Hawaii – 10 of the most beautiful, unforgettable days ever! I knew I would take a lot of pictures, but I have a folder of 2986 photos, can you believe it?!?! I’ve narrowed the number down to 800 ‘keepers’ (still ridiculously high, I know… but it’s the best I can do) and I’ll be sharing a bunch of them eventually, but for now I just picked a few to see if I remember how to do this blog thing. I’ve missed you, blog!!
There were sooooo many amazing moments on our trip. We started on the island of Oahu…
And of course, the best part of the trip was watching my sister and Jason say “I do!” My sister was the most beautiful bride I have ever seen. (Best wedding ever, Heather and Jay!)
We went to a wonderful Hawaiian luau (where I couldn’t resist saying hello to an actor from ‘Glee’…. major bonus!!)
Then we went to Kauai. Soooooo pretty!!
And then to Maui… a sweet convertible to drive around, beautiful sunsets, and so much more.
Lots more to share!
Cabin Day
Spent some family time at the cabin on Saturday… Although the leaves were mostly down, it was still beautiful and it was a great way to enjoy this unusually warm weather!
My 365 Projects
Two and a half years ago, I started a photography project — a 365 project, which I had seen others do and thought it would be fun to try. The ‘rules’ I gave myself were to take a picture every single day for 365 days, and for a twist, I decided each photo had to have a word somewhere in it. I posted all of the photos on a blog, and I’m happy to say I only missed two days in that entire year. Here are a few of the shots I took:
When it was over, I was a bit relieved — I mean, it had been quite a bit of work! But, it was also quite fun and looking back at the photos is pretty neat. I took photos of ordinary things that I never, ever would have photographed, and there’s something really cool about that. And, after a solid year of daily shooting, it had become a very normal part of my day and when it was done, I missed it! So, I gave myself a little break, and about a month after my first project ended, I started a new one, my “Random 365.”
This time I was a lot more flexible. My only real goal was to post a photo every day, but exactly what photo I posted was completely flexible. I used new photos, old photos, photos with/without words… much less challenging. I posted those on a blog, too. BUT, although I liked this project as well, I will say that I was much less attached to this project… maybe because it was less work, I invested less in it, I’m not sure… Oh, and it didn’t help that the project was interrupted by the very busiest time of my life, EVER. So this one made it about half-way through — I ended it after Day 177. That was really okay with me, honestly. Here are some of the shots I posted for that project:
Now, a year later, I’ve been missing the 365 thing. Although life is about to get incredibly busy again, I dare say I’m contemplating starting something up again… Something with words again? Or self-portraits? (Now THAT would be a stretch for me… yikes!) Or something else? ………. I guess we’ll see
Creepy Crawly
This guy has made a home on one of the bushes in my front yard, right next to where I get water for the flowers. I’m not super-excited about this… his body alone is about as long as a quarter, and then there’s his legs…. eeeek!!
Allyson – Class of 2012 | Eau Claire, WI Senior Photography
Allyson is about to begin her senior year of high school! This is just incredible to me, honestly — I remember so clearly when she was a brand new baby, and I was so excited to have a new little cousin. Well, time flies, and now she’s all grown up!
